Three energy experts will discuss the path to net zero in Huron County and the province, during an lunch event on Thursday, Jan. 26, hosted by the Huron Chamber of Commerce – Goderich, Central and North Huron.

Panelist Steven Jelich is the Director, Southwest Region Operations for Enbridge Gas. In this role, he is responsible for over 200 employees and the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to nearly 483,000 customers in an area stretching from Windsor to Woodstock and Goderich to Lake Erie. Previously, Steven was District Manager for Northeastern Ontario for Union Gas, and held previous roles in Union Gas in the areas of Gas Supply and Control, Supply Chain Management, Customer Care and Distribution Operations. Steven lives in London and has a BComm and MBA from the University of Windsor.
Panelist Andrew Thiele is the Director of Bruce Power Net Zero a new commercial entity focused on unlocking the potential of other complementary technologies to nuclear including storage, renewables, hydrogen, and electrified transportation to achieve a net zero future. Andrew is a graduate of the Munk school of Global Affairs the University of Toronto and holds his BA from the University of Guelph. Prior to working with Bruce Power, Andrew spent three years as a Policy Advisor for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Ontario government. These experiences have made him well versed across multiple policy areas from both a public and private perspective.
Panelist Jason Van Geel is Founder and President of Carlsun Energy Solutions. He started his career in the wind industry over 20 years ago and founded Carlsun as a leading construction and project integration company servicing the renewable energy and hydrogen sectors in Canada.
Moderator Jennifer Verdam-Woodward is the Director of Finance, Canada Operations for Compass Minerals. She moved to Goderich in early 2015. Prior to working at Compass Minerals, she was a controller and accounting manager for 13 years in Aerospace, General Industry, and Automotive manufacturing plants. In addition to serving as the current Chair and past Treasurer on the Huron Chamber Board, Jennifer also serves as Treasurer of the Huron Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing, and Counselling Services Board, Secretary of the Unit 249 American Contract Bridge League Board, Administrator of the ACBL District 2 Board, and is a former member of the Goderich Economic Development Committee.
