The Huron Chamber of Commerce is encouraging our members and the wider community to participate in Huron County’s Economic Development Strategic Plan process. This is an important opportunity for residents, businesses, and community leaders to help set the course for our local economy over the next five to ten years.

The County of Huron’s Economic Development Department has launched a consultation process that includes an online survey and in-person sessions across the county’s nine municipalities. The resulting Strategic Plan will provide a clear, results-oriented framework for the next five years, along with a ten-year vision for Huron County’s economic future.

As Director of Huron County Economic Development, Vicki Lass explains, “The input of our residents and local businesses is essential to the success of this plan. We want to develop a plan the entire county can get behind that ensures the strategic direction we take reflects the needs and aspirations of communities across Huron County.”

At the Huron Chamber of Commerce, we work closely with Huron County’s Economic Development team. While the Chamber is an independent economic development organization funded by our members and sponsors, our partnership with the County is an important part of supporting local growth. By collaborating with municipal partners, we ensure that the voice of the business community is represented when strategies are developed that affect investment, labour, and community prosperity.

This is where you come in. The Strategic Plan will only succeed if it reflects the priorities of the people who live and work here. By sharing your perspective, you can help ensure that Huron County continues to be a place where businesses succeed and communities thrive.

I strongly encourage our members to take part. “The Chamber’s role is to connect community leaders, and one of the most important ways we can do that is by making sure business voices are included in decisions that shape our shared future,” said Colin Carmichael, Executive Director of the Huron Chamber of Commerce. “Now more than ever, it’s vital that the strategic direction for our county is informed by those who know our local economy best.”

How to Participate

The completed plan will be presented to Huron County Council in January 2026. Let’s make sure the business community and residents of Huron County are fully represented in this process.

The Huron Chamber of Commerce is one of Canada’s fastest growing Chambers, connecting community leaders since 1990. Representing businesses across eight Huron County municipalities, the Chamber focuses on growing the local economy, supporting business success, and strengthening our towns and villages. As an independent, non-profit organization, the Chamber advocates for business and community interests, facilitates collaboration, and convenes stakeholders to develop and support a vibrant and thriving county.
