Ontario Boosts Support for Rural Businesses with New ROD Program
Following up on Ontario’s announcement last month, there’s renewed excitement about the recently launched Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program, particularly among small businesses across Huron County. On June 24th, Minister of Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson officially unveiled this enhanced funding initiative aimed at strengthening rural communities and small businesses. Read the official Ontario government announcement here.
The ROD Program represents a significant step forward, doubling the provincial investment to $20 million over the next two years. This enhanced funding stream comes at a crucial time, enabling rural businesses to tackle barriers to growth, improve their competitive edge, and address key operational challenges like accessibility and cybersecurity.
Huron County businesses now have the opportunity to access meaningful financial support specifically tailored to the needs of smaller enterprises, reflecting a commitment from the provincial government to ensure that rural communities aren’t left behind in Ontario’s economic landscape.
“The newly enhanced Rural Ontario Development Program is a vital tool for strengthening the heart of our rural communities. In Huron County, we see every day how targeted investments can make a real difference for families, farmers, local businesses and community organizations. We’re thankful to Minister Thompson and the Ontario government for recognizing that when rural Ontario succeeds, all of Ontario benefits.”
