The OCC is seeking feedback on the proposed mandatory gas station stickers announced by the provincial government. This initiative is part of the Federal Carbon Tax Transparency Act (details here). Gas stations that do not comply risk fines between $500 and $10,000.
The sticker is expected to look like this:
As you can tell, this is not a traditional government information/warning sticker and so has raised concerns about private business’ Charter right to free expression. These stickers and the subsequent fine may also be an example of increasing red tape.
