The Huron Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that its annual Golf Tournament, presented by Hurontel, raised $2,000 in support of the Huron Women’s Shelter.

In the photo accompanying this announcement are Colin Carmichael, Executive Director of the Huron Chamber of Commerce; Tom Williscraft of Blackburn Media, Chamber board member and chair of the tournament; Ryan McClinchey, General Manager of Hurontel; and Genelle Reid, representing the Huron Women’s Shelter, who accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.

A Day of Golf, Community, and Giving

The tournament, held earlier this summer, welcomed more than 50 golfers to the course. With perfect weather and a lively atmosphere, participants enjoyed a day filled with fun, networking, and friendly competition. More importantly, they helped raise much-needed funds for an essential local service.

The Huron Women’s Shelter, a Chamber member, provides safety, support, and resources for women and families experiencing domestic violence. By raising $2,000, the tournament not only supported the shelter’s work but also highlighted how the Chamber community can come together to strengthen Huron County’s social fabric.

“Events like this show that the Chamber is more than just a network of businesses,” said Colin Carmichael, Executive Director of the Huron Chamber of Commerce. “We are a community of members—businesses, non-profits, and individuals—working side by side to build a better Huron County. The golf tournament is a perfect example of members helping members.”

Sponsors Make It Possible

The tournament was made possible through the generous support of sponsors. Hurontel, as the presenting sponsor, played a leading role in ensuring the event’s success. Our partner sponsors, hole sponsors, and prize donors also contributed to making the day memorable for participants. Their commitment underscores how local businesses and organizations collaborate through the Chamber to create positive outcomes for the broader community.

A Community Beyond Business

The Chamber emphasizes that its membership extends well beyond the traditional business community. With organizations like the Huron Women’s Shelter and Hurontel as active members, the Chamber represents a diverse network that includes non-profits, service providers, and entrepreneurs.

This diversity reflects the Chamber’s broader mission of strengthening the towns and villages of Huron County by bringing together leaders from all sectors. Whether it is supporting local charities, advocating for business-friendly policies, or creating opportunities for connection, the Chamber provides a platform for collaboration that benefits the entire community.
