The Huron Chamber of Commerce invites Goderich residents, business owners, and community leaders to attend the upcoming Town Hall Information Session on Wednesday, November 27th.
This event, the second of its kind in 2024 following a successful May session, offers an important opportunity to engage directly with town council members about the recently released Strategic Action Plan Progress Tracker, which was presented at the November 12th Council meeting. Hosted by the Chamber as an independent, neutral facilitator, this session aims to bring together all voices to discuss the community’s vision for the future of Goderich.

Strategic Action Progress: Building on Achievements
At this event, attendees will receive updates on significant achievements that reflect the Council’s dedication to a more connected, thriving Goderich. Among the highlights in the Progress Tracker is the Community Grant Policy, approved in October, which provides local groups with in-kind support for their initiatives. Housing has also been a focus, with designated high-density rental zones and a joint advocacy plan with Huron County to support affordable housing efforts and address housing insecurity. The Council has also worked diligently with citizen input on the Rebuilding Downtown Infrastructure Task Force, which is nearing the final design stages. The design, set to be presented in December, will offer a costed vision for a refreshed downtown that aligns with community priorities.
Ongoing Efforts to Shape Our Community
The Progress Tracker report also outlines projects currently in progress, including expanded water and wastewater capacity to support sustainable growth in Goderich. Environmental efforts remain a core focus, with a new coastal environmental plan underway to protect the shoreline and adopt best practices for responsible stewardship. These initiatives reflect the town’s commitment to responsible growth, sustainability, and the well-being of residents.
Why Your Input Matters
As your Chamber, we are proud to serve as an independent advocate and facilitator in this process, helping to bring together community members and town officials in open, collaborative discussions. The November Town Hall offers an invaluable forum to not only hear from council members but also to share your thoughts, ask questions, and ensure your voice is part of the conversation about Goderich’s future. The Chamber’s role is to bridge these discussions, ensuring the right people are in the room, and that decisions are made with the full benefit of community input.
Mayor Trevor Bazinet emphasizes the significance of public engagement in these discussions, stating, “Engaging directly with our residents and business community is essential to ensuring that the decisions we make reflect the values and priorities of Goderich. This Town Hall event provides an invaluable opportunity for council to listen, answer questions, and work together with the community to shape the future of our town. I encourage everyone to join us, share their insights, and be an active part of the discussion.”
