The Huron County Small Business New Business award is always a hard competition, and usually comes down to community outreach and involvement, This year was no different as River Run Restaurant won. Not only are the running a great restaurant, with incredible views and creative food, but they are hosting a variety of events for the county and the town.
Increasingly important in years to come the TD Canada Trust Environmental Impact Award was awarded to Steve Little and Little Bowl. Leadership is key to success in any endeavour. Recognizing the future for all of us lies in the importance of a clean and green society, Steve saw the need for eliminating plastic waste and has installed a free water refill station.
This year’s winner for the Tourism Goderich Hospitality Business Award really has reinvented tourism in Huron County and our hats are off for Grace and 519 Tours
Our final regular category for the evening was the Zehrs Goderich Retail Business Award. Again it comes down to a business that is so much more than its storefront but the owner , Shelley, is community-minded, voluntarily tending to flower beds in town while working with the Communities In Bloom project and decorating the downtown Square. So we took a moment to recognize Something Irresistible.
The final two awards of the evening were the Business of the Year and the Chamber Hall of Fame Award.
The Business of the Year was chosen form the nominations received for a business, event or person which in the estimation of the judges stood out above all others. This year we were pleased to recognize The Buchanan family and Port Albert General Store.
Starting as a General Store in 2013, it is now a local produce vendor, restaurant, pub, and as of the 30th of October, an LCBO Convenience outlet.
The Chamber Hall of Fame Award was given to the organizers that brought us Bannister Park in Goderich. The Goderich Recreation Park Revitalization Committee fundraised and met the goal of opening a new and revitalized community park in 2019. The park is open to everyone including visitors and tourists to our beautiful town. The revitalized space has been designed as an active park for our local baseball and soccer communities, skate park enthusiasts, children, youth and families.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and participating and we will see you all next year.
