Join the Diversity Institute as they explore employment barriers faced by immigrants, and opportunities for SMEs to access inclusive talent.

Canada and its small and medium-size businesses are facing labour shortages and challenges in recruiting and retaining skilled workers. While this creates opportunities for newcomers, skilled newcomers continue to face higher rates of unemployment and underemployment. In this webinar, we will explore the employment barriers faced by immigrants and the opportunities available to small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to adopt more inclusive hiring practices.

Key areas of discussion will include:

  • Canada’s changing demographics
  • Newcomers’ experiences of discrimination
  • Unemployment and underemployment
  • SME perspectives on hiring immigrants
  • Advice for managing the current backlash to EDI
  • Tools and initiatives to support SMEs to adopt more inclusive hiring practices
