Thinking about starting a business but not sure if you are ready — or if your idea should stay a hobby?

Skills Workshops from the Huron Business Centre are focused training sessions for busy business owners (and future business owners) who want clear, practical guidance on one topic at a time.

This session is designed for people in the “just exploring” stage of self-employment.

Thinking about starting a business but not sure if you are ready — or if your idea should stay a hobby?

Join us online on January 21 at 10 a.m. for a friendly, plain-language workshop on what self-employment really involves led by Ramona Gallagher, founder of Business Basics Canada.

We will talk about how self-employment fits into real life, how to match your ideas to your skills and capacity, and simple ways to test an idea before you go all in.

Together, we will walk through a self-employment quiz, explore different types of self-employment and low-cost business ideas, and use a Business Readiness Checklist to help you understand your next steps.

We will cover:

· What self-employment is—and is not—in real life

· How to assess your personal capacity (time, money, energy)

· Ways to match your skills and interests to potential business ideas

· The difference between a hobby and a business (and why it matters)

· Simple tools to test and validate an idea before you leap

You do not need a polished business idea to attend. Curiosity is enough.
