The Huron Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with United Way Perth-Huron to host Election Connections, a unique, non-partisan event designed to bring voters and federal candidates together for real conversations about the future of our region.
Taking place on Wednesday, April 23 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clinton Town Hall Auditorium, this event invites the community to engage directly with Huron-Bruce federal election candidates in a format that breaks away from the traditional debate stage. Instead of speeches and talking points, Election Connections offers small-group discussions where voters and candidates sit side by side to share perspectives and explore solutions.
“This unique event will let voters and candidates go beyond the talking points for a deeper conversation about how to drive growth and opportunity in Huron County,” said Colin Carmichael, Executive Director of the Huron Chamber of Commerce. “As an organization committed to connecting community leaders, we are excited to collaborate with United Way on an event that empowers dialogue and builds understanding.”
Participants will be guided by volunteer moderators and have the chance to explore a range of issues in a setting that fosters respect and connection. “This is not a debate or a Q&A, with candidates on a stage. We’re inviting candidates to talk with voters side by side,” said Kristin Crane, Director of Community Impact and Research of United Way Perth-Huron. “We don’t often get to connect like that, and it’s so important for building strong communities.” Leading up to the event, a virtual prep session will be available to help participants choose topics, learn about federal government roles, and develop tools for constructive conversations.
This initiative is just one example of the Chamber’s commitment to meaningful partnerships that benefit both our members and the broader community. As the Huron Chamber of Commerce marks its 35th anniversary in 2025, we’re celebrating a long tradition of connecting Huron County’s business leaders with policy-makers, community partners, and one another. Our roots trace back to 1875, when Huron County’s first Board of Trade was formed, laying the foundation for 150 years of local business leadership.
With members spanning eight municipalities, the Huron Chamber remains the largest business organization in the County—dedicated to growing the local economy, supporting business success, and strengthening the towns and villages where we live and work.
We encourage community members and Chamber members alike to take part in this meaningful evening. Advance registration is encouraged at huronchamber.ca/election-connections or by contacting Will Wellington at 519-271-7730.
Now more than ever, conversations that bring people together matter. Join us in building a stronger Huron County—one connection at a time.
