Waton's Home Hardware in Goderich

Dear Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of a devastating fire that broke out this evening at Watson’s Home Hardware in Goderich. The fire, which is still being contained after several hours, has required the response of numerous local fire departments. This event is nothing short of catastrophic for the Watson family, the dedicated employees, and the entire community that relies on this essential business.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Huron Chamber of Commerce, I extend our heartfelt sympathy and support to the Watson family and their staff during this incredibly difficult time. We understand that the full extent of the damage is not yet known, but given the scale of the response, it is clear that the impact will be significant.

The Watson family, who have owned and operated the Home Hardware store in Goderich since 2012, are integral members of our business community. In addition to the Goderich location, they own five other Home Hardware locations throughout Huron and Perth counties. Their commitment to providing excellent service and support to our town has been unwavering, and now it is our turn to support them.

We are immensely grateful to the brave firefighters and emergency responders who have been tirelessly working to control the blaze and ensure the safety of our community. Your dedication and courage in the face of such a formidable challenge do not go unnoticed. Thank you for your service.

In the coming days and weeks, we encourage the community to come together in solidarity with the Watson family and their employees as they navigate this challenging period. Together, we can help them rebuild and recover from this tragedy.

Thank you for your continued support and compassion.

Sincerely,

Colin Carmichael
